Mayo, Florida Temporarily Changing to "Miracle Whip"

Well here's a publicity stunt that went right off the rails.

There's a town in northern Florida called Mayo. And they recently made a deal with Kraft Heinz to temporarily change the name of the town to Miracle Whip, Florida for somewhere between $15,000 and $25,000.

But here's where it gets strange. Even though it's obviously just a temporary publicity stunt, their plan was to do it as a PRANK, and try to convince the 1,200 or so people who live there that it was REAL and permanent.

And they were going to have a bunch of camera people go around and film people's reactions to the town's name being changed.

That's a problem, though. Since they wanted to do it as a prank, the town officials had a closed-door meeting with the representatives from Kraft Heinz to plan things out and finalize the money.

And that was almost definitely ILLEGAL under Florida's laws, because they guarantee open access to government meetings.

So now, the prank is ruined, and the town could be looking at some fines.
