Kane Brown Showcases 'Experiment' In Album Release Party

Kane Brown released his new album Experiment on November 9th, and celebrated with an intimate group of fans during iHeartCountry LIVE with Kane Brown Powered by M&M’S: A First Look Inside his new album Experiment. He not only performed some of his new music, but also talked about the making of the new record during the show, and spoke a powerful message to fans about equality and sharing a personal story about challenges he grew up surrounded with.

Experiment is Kane's sophomore studio album, and follows the 2016 release self-titled album. The new LP showcases twelve new songs including his previous single "Lost It," which he revealed was the first song written for the project and ultimately set the tone for the entire record. In one word he said this album was more "groovy."

During the Album Release Party, Kane performed Experiment songs including "Lost It," "Homesick," "Weekend," "Short Skirt Weather," and "Good as You." But, he also performed fan favorites from his previous album like "What Ifs," "Heaven," "Found You," "Learning," "Better Place," "Pull it Off," "You to Love You Sober," and then a medley mash-up of covers.

Kane also talked about his first arena headlining tour during a special Q&A in between performing songs. The Live Forever Tour kicks off in January, with Granger Smith, Jimmie Allen, Danielle Bradberry and RaeLynn. Kane jokingly said it should be called the social media tour, as all the artists have a solid presence on social media.

Having been on tour with many of today's superstars, he said the one thing that he's learned that he'll take with him on his first arena headlining tour is energy and production. He said they have really tried to step that up for this tour.

Kane performed his powerful song "Homesick" saying they wrote the song at 5AM one morning. "I had home sick tattooed on my knuckles before we wrote this song, so that's where we got the title from." He got the tattoo after starting in music and not really being home for two years. After finishing the song, he went back to bed and started listening to it, asking himself who would relate to the song. The first people that came to his mind were the military, because of how far away from home they are. Then they decided to get fans in the military to send in videos, and that became the music video.

Before singing "Learning," which he calls the most personal song of his debut album, Kane shared a very powerful story about his childhood. "I grew up in some rough times, we didn't have a lot of money growing up. I used to live in a car with my mom for a little while. Then my step-dad came into the picture, he did some things to me that he shouldn't have. My nana was a detective at the time, and she was giving me a bath, saw bruises all over my body, she asked me what happenned and I told her. She had him locked up three weeks later."

He went on to share, "Also, I grew up in Georgia and I went through a lot of racism. I've been chased through the woods on a 4-wheeler, when I was 11 years-old thinking I was going to lose my life. It was scary and I remember hiding behind a tree waiting for one of my friends, and one found me and was like I'll take you home. I know we've got people fighting overseas for us right now, and it doesn't matter if you are black, white, red, yellow, green, blue, everybody watches each other's backs. That's why I really felt like I needed to write this song. I know there's a lot of people that go through stuff, that's why I wanted to but my story in a song."
