TMSG: Families Donate Car & Money To Beloved Crossing Guard

For the last two years, Wallace Peoples has been keeping the students at Sherwood Forest Elementary and their families safe every morning and afternoon as the school crossing guard. He calls the boys and girls his kids and he takes his job very seriously, something the parents at the Winston-Salem, North Carolina school have noticed.

So when Mr. Peoples’ car broke down last month and he couldn’t get to work, the families of the students at the school wanted to lend a hand to the man they love so much. One of the parents posted about his plight on Facebook and within two hours, they had raised $800 for the crossing guard and someone donated a vehicle, too.

They surprised Mr. Peoples with the donations recently. A crowd of parents and students were cheering at the school when he was given his donated SUV and a check for $2,500. “Now I know they care,” Peoples says. “It’s good to know that people care.”
