Standing Desk Makes You Twice Likely to Develop Heart Disease

We've all heard about how sitting all day is bad for us, and that led to this whole STANDING DESK trend. But if you haven't joined in and you're still sitting at your desk all day . . . well, you're the smart one, I guess?

Because a new study by the Institute of Work and Health in Toronto found that standing all day is ALSO terrible for you.

They studied 7,320 different workers over 12 years, and they found that people who mostly stand are TWICE as likely to develop heart disease as people who mostly sit . . . especially women.

The reason is that when you're standing, your body has to work a lot harder to pump blood from your legs to your heart.

So is standing worse for you than sitting? It might be. The researchers say your best bet is to mix things up . . . don't JUST sit or JUST stand all day every day.(Daily Mail)
