Some People in Florida Try to Shoot Hurricane Irma

Gotta say this for Florida: If it's going down, it's going down GUNS BLAZING.

Because over the weekend, a Facebook group sprung up encouraging people in Florida to try to get Hurricane Irma to go away . . . by shooting at it.

The 22-year-old guy who started the group is named Ryon Edwards and he's from Daytona Beach, Florida. He says it was just supposed to be a joke . . . but clearly, not everyone got it.

Because so far, more than 55,000 people have joined the group.

The Pasco County Sheriff's Department responded on Saturday and asked them NOT to shoot at the hurricane and to evacuate instead.

Quote, "You won't make it turn around and it will have very dangerous side effects" . . . like bullets fired into the storm going in unpredictable directions.

So far, there haven't been any reports of people ACTUALLY shooting the hurricane.(Time / Snopes)
