What's Your Family's Weird Christmas Tradition?

When I was a kid, my family always celebrated Christmas, but we did it in a very weird way.

For starters, we never had a Christmas tree.  My parents were deathly afraid it would catch on fire, so they did something else.

They arranged the presents on Christmas morning to look like they were coming out of our fireplace . . . like Santa left a little trail of gifts.

They also left the milk and cookies for Santa in the chimney, and would put an ashy handprint on one of them.

I guess it was cool, but this year was the first time I ever had a Christmas tree, and I've never been happier.  I can't believe I went 32 years without one.

What's your family's weird Christmas tradition?  How long has it been carried out in your family?
