US National Weather Service Birmingham Alabama:
Here is the latest on the weather for the weekend. There is still ALOT of UNCERTAINTY, but here is the latest thinking from our standpoint. All of Central Alabama will have a chance at seeing severe weather at some point Saturday/Saturday night. The biggest question for the latest forecast will be timing.
Our forecast will continue to be based on the assumption that a line of strong to severe storms will hold together and move into Alabama during the morning hours, before stalling out somewhere just south of the I-20 corridor. The line will then re-intensify and start moving again during the afternoon and evening with a disturbance that will slide into the area. This evolution suggests a long duration event, lasting as late as 6 AM in far eastern Alabama. There could also be localized flooding with the heavier rain bands, so please be mindful of low lying areas as well.
Bottom line, confidence is high that it will rain at some point Saturday at your location. Exact timing remains a concern and thus the uncertainty, so be safe and stay weather aware through the day.
