Americans Spend Half a Billion on Costumes For Pets

Pretty much every animal expert will tell you your pets HATE when you dress them up in costumes. They hate how a costume feels on them, it can make them overheat, and it humiliates them.

But on the other hand . . . IT'S HALLOWEEN, BABY.

According to the National Retail Federation, Americans will spend $480 million on costumes for their pets this Halloween. That's almost half a BILLION dollars.

And it's more than double what we spent on pet costumes back in 2010.

And their theory on what's pumping up the spending is . . . Instagram. Everyone wants to share a picture of their dog dressed as Captain America. Everyone.

The most popular pet costumes this year are: Pumpkin . . . hot dog . . . and bumblebee.
