Blake Shelton's "Hell Right" Isn't Throwing Shade at Lil Nas X

Here's a contrived controversy for your Monday morning. Some "music insiders" started whining after hearing BLAKE SHELTONandTRACE ADKINS'song"Hell Right". They said it disrespectedLil Nas X's"Old Town Road"

It's because of the part where Blake sings, "Then the girl from the small town took off the 'Old Town', put on a little Hank Jr." And then Trace answers, "Thank God."

The reason that's supposed to be offensive is because Lil Nas is black andHank Williams Jr."supports" the Confederate flag. (???)

Obviously, they're reading way too much into it. Blake and Trace are simply saying they'd rather hear a classic instead of something that's getting played nonstop. Still, Blake's rep decided to make a statement to"Variety".

Quote, "It's absolutely not throwing any kind of shade at all. Blake says this literally has nothing to do with anything at all except how much the song is played. It could have been'Achy Breaky Heart'or any other [overplayed] song."

His rep also pointed out that Blake cleared it withBilly Ray Cyrusahead of time. Billy's on the most popular version of the song, and he thought the lyric was funny.
