Cody Jinks delivered a heartfelt performance that “will make you wanna call your mama.”

The Fort Worth, Texas-born country artist appeared on a recent episode of God’s Country, hosted by brother duo Dan and Reid Isbell. During the podcast episode, Jinks performed “Mamma Song,” which he released in 2015: “Hey, I'm doing alright mamma, I'm okay/ I know your late night talks with Jesus/ Have helped me on my way/ I know it wasn't always easy raising my father's son/ And your son will be alright/ If the shows keep coming/ This old guitar and me I'm still strumming/ I know you always knew I always took it way too far/ But I'm doing alright now mamma/ I’m doing alright now mamma/ I’m doing alright now mamma/ I’m doing okay.”

“This week Reid and Dan host multi-platinum artist and outdoorsman, Cody Jinks, out in God's Country. Cody shares his love for fishing with the guys, where it came from, and what he's doing to pass this along to his kids. He breaks down the process of his redneck live well he built for his jon boat and gives a tutorial on how listeners can do the same for less than $200. They discuss life on the road, balancing family, and how he's built the monstrous career that he has, from the ground up. Cody shares insight into his next record that comes out in July and ends with a gravorite that will make you wanna call your mama.”

Dan and Reid — who have written music for Luke CombsMiranda LambertScotty McCreeryJon PardiLainey Wilson and others — started their weekly podcast in early January 2024. Some of the first guests to appear on the show include HARDYDustin LynchColbie Caillat and others.

“One of our favorite things about country music has always been how intertwined it is with the outdoors,” Dan and Reid Isbell said in a statement when God’s Country launched. They hope to “bring the outdoor enthusiast or country music lover an up close and personal look into the minds of some of the best songwriters and artists of the genre — a place where they can be honest about struggles, relationships, their connection to the outdoors, the music business, family, whatever they feel comfortable talking about. We can’t wait to see where this partnership will lead and who this podcast will reach.”

The iHeartPodcasts/MeatEater show is available anywhere you listen to podcasts, including in the iHeartRadio app. Select country stations will broadcast the show between 7-11:30 p.m. local time on Sunday evenings. Find God's Country here.
